General Education 111 Section 25 Syllabus
Abstract
During the course, we will take a comparative global approaching to examining world cultures from 1500 to the present. Through the careful reading of a variety of primary and secondary sources, we will examine a number of broad topics including the Age of Exploration, the Reformation, slavery, the Enlightenment, World Wars, and globalization. You will be challenged not to merely memorize and recite “facts”, but to critically read and evaluate documents, make judgments based on these readings and class discussions, to synthesize diverse sources of information, and to articulate your views orally and in writing.
