This community features research by faculty members and students in the School of Molecular Biosciences at Washington State University. Molecular biosciences can be best viewed as a dynamic continuum in which approaches derived from chemistry, physics and biology are utilized to address the fundamental mechanisms of living things. The School of Molecular Biosciences was formed in 1999 through merger of the departments of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Genetics and Cell Biology, and Microbiology. The School retains the discipline-specific training offered in each of these areas while at the same time providing overarching interdisciplinary training in Molecular, Cellular, and Structural Biology, a unifying theme that bridges all three of the founding disciplines.
