    Abstract
No one wants to think about earthquakes, but knowing what to expect can make a big difference in an emergency. Safety experts offer tips on anchoring houses to foundations, knowing where to find utility shutoff valves or breakers, securing wood stoves and other large furniture items that might topple, and preparing a "survival" box of essential supplies. Information on what to do during a quake and further reading are included. 12 pages.
